I love it when it stops raining and snowing and freezing. The sun is good for those of us who inhabit the wetlands. Really, it isn’t that wet, just seems so. It has been a while since an update for the men of GHCC. The Pinewood Derby is behind us and it was a hoot. Thanks to all the volunteers, parents and kids, especially the Ackerman family, Kelly Chick and Paul Gilara.
Now, it is time to look at the future. Recently, Pastor Ed has been speaking on fireproofing relationships in our lives. To that purpose, we have a Father/Son Campout coming up in July and a Men’s Retreat coming up in October. Planning teams are in place and agendas are being defined. But I promise you, we will emphasize practical strategies to accomplish better relationships in our families and with God. We will also emphasize good food, outdoor activities, survivor training, worship, good food, outdoor activities, campfire stories by Uncle Jer, survivor stories, snacks, manly fun games, good food, scary but true testimonies, outdoor activities, hiking, fishing, great bar-b-q, dead cow and pig, manly desserts, and of course, worship.
So, sign up men, we need to plan for the numbers. I believe it is $10 per person for the Father/ Son Campout and $55 benjamins (as R-dub calls them) for the Men’s Retreat. Both will be worth it.
I am grateful for a parking lot that brings our facility out of forty years of wandering in the land of the hillbilly. (That is a joke). Chad, Gary, the GL’s and all of you who participated in the 90 day Seed Fast, Thank You!!!!!! But mostly, thank you Lord. Now we move on to the summer tent set up, Maple Valley Days and perhaps some of the GL students will even graduate. AMEN?????
An update on Jared Keadle. He is home now and Jay spends a lot of time caring for him. He is not walking or talking, so he still needs some miracles. So let us continue to pray for Jared and the Keadle family. You may call him at 530-336-6785 to encourage him and Margaret.
In Genesis 28 Jacob sleeps and dreams of a ladder set up from earth to heaven with angels of God ascending and descending on it. Later he claims he did not even know God was in the place where he was and that it was a gate of heaven.
Men, seek revelation in your lives so that you know where you are and where God is working in your lives and relationships. During last year’s Men’s Retreat Randy told us to find the gates in our lives and to defend them. I have been reading a book by Bill Johnson “The Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind”. In it he makes the case for the Church being a gate, “a place of transition and access” to heaven. Our minds are places of transition, access, and power. These minds can be gates, to Heaven and of course, to the other place, depending on what we feed them. That is why in John 14, Jesus promises to give us “another helper who will abide in us forever”
I close this message with the strong declaration that it is time to draw close to God. There is a full assault on the Kingdom of God and its principles, on families, on youth, on marriage, on freedom, and on the Church. We need to guard our hearts and minds so that they can be a gate to an open heaven over ourselves and our loved ones and our nation. We have the authority, we have the power, and do we have the will?? Let us not let our ladders go unused. We need to display the fruits of the Spirit, wherever we go.
God bless you and keep you.
