God led me from a small Illinois town, to the University of Illinois, and then way out here to Washington and planted me at the Boeing Company, where I have now been an engineer for over 20 years. In 1994, the moment I walked through the doors of our church, I knew that the Lord had given me a church family and that I was home.
I volunteered for many years with the youth group staff, began giving oversight to GHCC’s finances, and was appointed as an Elder in 2005. Following the Lord’s call, I was ordained to Generational Hope’s pastoral team, and I thoroughly enjoy leading Life groups and teaching Foundations classes and Next Steps classes – preaching and teaching the Word of God and building and equipping the saints.
By God’s grace, I met my beautiful wife Laura, who grew up in rural Colorado. While I’m away writing procedures and teaching technical classes at Boeing (in my spare time), Laura is homeschooling our three children, Emily (13), Luke (10) and Ellie (6) – with only a little bit of help from me. We spend lots of quality family time together: raising and teaching our kids, serving as Generational Leadership house parents, staying healthy at Tahoma Athletic Club and Cross Fit, and occasionally running, hiking, biking, and playing sports with our family.
My heroes are the faithful saints and the faithful fathers – those in God’s Word and those serving beside us.
My favorite restaurant: Chipotle, of course. “Life is burritoful”.
A few favorite quotes:
“Don’t be afraid; just believe.” – Jesus
“They are giants and if you are afraid, don’t get in my way, and start praying in the meantime. I’m going to engage them in fierce and unequal battle.” – Don Quixote
“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” – Hebrews 6:12
“There is always room at the top.” – Daniel Webster
“Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.” – Hebrews 12:1
“Do you have any questions, comments… thoughts, interests, demands?” – Coach Nordvall
